Dear Sound Tigers Fans,

As our 10th Anniversary Season came to a close this past weekend, we want to take this opportunity to thank all of you who supported the Sound Tigers throughout the year. We had our second highest attendance of the season in our final game this past Sunday, a true testament to your dedication as Sound Tiger fans.

Although the offseason is seen as a downtime for teams and the league, we strive to improve in ways that benefit the team and our fans alike. Over the past several years, the American Hockey League has examined the length of our playing schedule, working closely with the National Hockey League and the Professional Hockey Players’ Association in an effort to provide a schedule which is fair to our fans and our players. As the game has become faster and more physical, wear and tear on our players, combined with the high frequency of games and travel, has begun to affect player development, player safety and at times, the quality of competition.

With all of these factors in mind, the American Hockey League is pleased to announce a schedule modification for the 2011-2012 season. Each AHL team’s schedule will be modified from 80 to 76 games and the playing calendar will be lengthened one week, eliminating teams from playing four games in five days and reducing the first round of the Calder Cup Playoffs to a best-of-five series. These steps will ensure a safer environment for our players with greater rest and recovery time, as well as providing our fans with a higher caliber of play.

Due to the elimination of two home games, we are providing several options for 40-game season ticket holders. Those fans who have already paid in full can receive two tickets to a select New York Islanders game during the 2011-12 season, get a 125% credit in the form of a gift card towards merchandise or concessions at Webster Bank Arena, receive an extra two (2) tickets to the Sound Tiger home game of their choice, or have those tickets donated in their name to a favorite charity.

We encourage you to call your sales representative to review each of these options. We thank you for your continued support as we make improvements for both the players and fans. Have a wonderful summer.

Very truly yours,
Bridgeport Sound Tigers

President
