PEDAN & ULLSTROM JOIN SOUND TIGERS
Pedan, 19, led all Guelph Storm defensemen in scoring with a career-high 44 points (14 goals, 30 assists) in 60 games this season. The Kaunas, Lithuania native led the Storm in playoff scoring with four points (three goals, one assist) in five Ontario Hockey League playoff games, as Guelph fell in the first round to the Kitchener Rangers.
The Islanders’ third-round (63rd overall) selection in the 2011 NHL Draft completed a three-year OHL career with 96 points (26 goals, 70 assists) and 386 penalty minutes in 174 regular-season games. He also added 15 points (four goals, 11 assists) in 17 career OHL playoff games.
On the international stage, Pedan represented Russia at the 2011 Under-18 World Junior Championships. He recorded two assists in six games as Russia earned a bronze medal.
The New York Islanders announced today that forward David Ullstrom has been activated off of injured reserve and loaned to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League.
Ullstrom, 23, returns to the Sound Tigers after appearing in one game with the Islanders during his most recent recall before suffering an injury on Mar. 14 in Tampa Bay. The Jonkoping, SWE native has recorded two goals and three assists in 20 games with the Islanders this season.
The 6’2, 195-pound forward played in one game with the Sound Tigers during his most recent stint in Bridgeport, netting the game-winning goal in a 3-2 overtime win against Springfield on Mar. 12. Originally the Islanders’ fourth round pick (102nd overall) of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, Ullstrom has skated in 27 games with the Sound Tigers this season, amassing 20 points (six goals, 14 assists) and a plus-12 rating.
