SOUND TIGERS ANNOUNCE PROMOTIONAL SCHEDULE
Opening Night is presented by Big Y and will also feature a magnet schedule giveaway. The first 2,500 fans through the doors at Webster Bank Arena will receive a free magnet schedule courtesy of Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over.
On Dec. 7 against the Hershey Bears, the Sound Tigers will hold both Military Night and our annual Teddy Bear Toss. On the anniversary of the attacks on Pearl Harbor, the Sound Tigers honor all the men and women who serve our country both domestically and abroad. Additionally, fans are encouraged to bring their own teddy bears to the game. When the Sound Tigers score their first goal, fans will throw their teddy bears on to the ice to celebrate. The teddy bears will be collected and donated to various hospitals around the area for children undergoing care during the holidays.
Originally scheduled for Nov. 5, the Sound Tigers’ Cool Fun 101 game will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 10 against the Albany Devils. Spring Fun 102 will take place against the Springfield Falcons on Tuesday, April 1. Both games emphasize education and its relationship to the game of hockey and will start 11 a.m.
On Dec. 14 against Providence, Pink Rink Night, sponsored by Norwalk Hospital, is the Sound Tigers’ annual game to raise awareness for breast cancer. For every fan who shows up to the game wearing pink, the Sound Tigers will donate $1 to breast cancer research. Fans in pink may also be selected to form a pink ribbon on the ice during one of the intermissions.
One Text or Call Could Wreck It All will sponsor a pair of hockey card giveaway nights, one on Jan. 12 against Hartford and the other on March 23rd against Portland. On each night, the first 2,000 fans to the game will receive a free hockey card.
On Feb. 23 against Providence, Newtown Savings Bank will help honor a former Sound Tiger and current Islander with Matt Martin Bobblehead Night. Martin played 83 games for the Sound Tigers between 2009 and 2011 and scored 34 points (13 goals, 21 assists).
For the second straight year, the Sound Tigers will hold You Can Play Day, a day sponsored by the You Can Play Project, an organization promoting equality, respect and safety for all athletes, without regard to sexual orientation. The day will feature a panel discussion before the game featuring LGBT athletes. You Can Play Day will take place on March 2 against Utica.
Pucks and Paws is scheduled for April 12 against Adirondack. Fans are encouraged to bring their dog(s) to the game and enjoy some hockey with their pups!
