The Bridgeport Sound Tigers (2-0-0-0), proud AHL affiliate of the New York Islanders, finished their preseason calendar with a convincing 7-1 win over the Hartford Wolf Pack (0-2-0-0) at the Fidelity Bank Worcester Ice Center on Saturday.

Matt Gaudreau and Travis St. Denis each scored twice and Christopher Gibson went the distance, stopping 30 of the 31 shots he faced. John Stevens (one goal, one assist), Casey Bailey (one goal, one assist), Patrick McNally (two assists) and Yannick Turcotte (two assists) also collected multiple points as Bridgeport swept Hartford during exhibition play.

Bridgeport will face Hartford 10 times during the 2017-18 regular season, beginning Sunday, Oct. 22 at Webster Bank Arena.

For the second time in as many games, Gaudreau opened the scoring with a breakaway tally in the first period. Just seconds after exiting the penalty box following an interference minor, Gaudreau settled Turcotte's stretch pass and sprung forward past the Wolf Pack defense. The Boston College product proceeded to slip a backhand shot under the glove of goaltender Brandon Halverson for a 1-0 lead at the 13:42 mark.

A four-goal second period opened the floodgates as Bridgeport received contributions from Stevens, Bailey, Ross Johnston and Gaudreau's second tally of the game.

Stevens started the scoring spree with another breakaway goal, this time shorthanded at the 8:24 mark. With Tanner Fritz in the box for slashing, Stevens capitalized on a turnover at center ice by wheeling into the Hartford zone and flipping a backhand shot over Halverson's glove.

Bailey added his mark to the score sheet with a one-time slap shot on the power play to make it 3-0. Stevens and St. Denis set up the attack from the parameter with the latter filtering a pass to Bailey on the left wing at 12:02 of the second.

Johnston and Gaudreau continued to pour it on and put the Sound Tigers up by five with a pair of even-strength goals less than two minutes apart. The first came at the 14:37 mark when Johnston forced home his first of the preseason, assisted by McNally and Jeff Kubiak. Gaudreau followed at 16:02 with a pin-point wrist shot that sailed high glove side from the left circle. Fritz and Seth Helgeson were credited with the helpers.

St. Denis added his two tallies in the third period to increase the lead to seven. The second-year forward beat backup goaltender Alexandar Georgiev just 1:14 into the frame when he poked a bouncing puck across the goal line to make it 6-0, helped by Bailey and Kyle Burroughs. St. Denis capped the scoring for Bridgeport at 13:42 by redirecting McNally's backhand centering feed from the blue line.

Hartford's Dan Catenacci broke up the shutout with just 2:53 remaining when he skated down the left wing and tucked a snap shot inside the left post for the 7-1 final.

The Sound Tigers finished the game 1-for-2 on the power play and a perfect 6-for-6 on the penalty kill. The contest also included one bout at 8:33 of the second period when Turcotte and Eric Selleck dropped the gloves.
