THE STORY COMING IN

The Bridgeport Sound Tigers (23-19-5-2), proud AHL affiliate of the New York Islanders, complete a three-game homestand this evening with a 7 p.m. puck drop against the Lehigh Valley Phantoms (30-14-4-4) at Webster Bank Arena. The Sound Tigers are looking to bounce back after a trio of losses last week, including a 3-2 setback to the Syracuse Crunch in their last outing on Sunday. Travis St. Denis and Michael Dal Colle each scored on the power play and Bridgeport carried a one-goal lead into the third period, but the advantage slipped away when Dennis Yan logged the eventual game-winner at the 8:01 mark. All-Star goaltender Christopher Gibson made 23 saves in his sixth straight start. The Sound Tigers have not lost three straight games in regulation at home this season, and hope to avoid that tonight.

DINNER AND A SHOW

Take advantage of popular concession specials during tonight's game and every weekday home game this season, featuring $1 hot dogs courtesy of Hummel Bros. and $5 draft beers for those 21 and older, presented by Budweiser. Each deal is available at all first-level concession stands at Webster Bank Arena. Great seats are still available!

TIGERS VS. PHANTOMS

Tonight's contest marks the fifth of eight meetings between the Sound Tigers and Phantoms this year, and the third of four matchups in Connecticut. Bridgeport is still seeking its first win against Lehigh Valley this season after suffering two overtime losses as well as a pair in regulation (0-2-2-0). In their last meeting on Dec. 17, Michael Dal Colle and Casey Bailey (power play) each found the back of the cage and Bridgeport outshot Lehigh Valley 39-18 overall (17-2 in the third period), but Corban Knight notched the game-winning goal in overtime at Webster Bank Arena. No active Sound Tiger has more than two points against Lehigh Valley this season.

VIEW FROM LEHIGH VALLEY

Scott Gordon's club has won three straight games and enters tonight's contest with the most points in the Atlantic Division (66), and the fourth-best win percentage in the AHL (.660). Lehigh Valley is coming off of a 5-3 victory over the Rochester Americans on Sunday, in which Mikhail Vorobyev collected the game-winning goal and added an assist, and Travis Sanheim logged a trio of helpers at PPL Center. T.J. Brennan, Greg Carey, Colin McDonald and Cole Bardreau also found the back of the cage, while Phil Varone had one assist and now ranks second in the AHL with 47 points (11 goals, 36 assists) in 49 games. Varone is currently on a four-point point streak (four assists).

BRIDGEPORT'S IRON MAN

Sound Tigers captain Ben Holmstrom played his 200th consecutive AHL game on Saturday against Providence, dating back to opening night of his first season with Bridgeport on Oct. 10, 2015. The 30-year-old has played every game for the Sound Tigers since then and his active streak of 201 straight AHL contests is the longest in the AHL (and a franchise record). Hershey Bears forward Wayne Simpson is the next closest at 162, done with three different teams: Providence, Portland and Hershey. Holmstrom has 194 points (72 goals, 122 assists) in 518 career AHL games. The AHL's ironman record is held by Billy Dea, who played 548 straight games for the Buffalo Bisons from 1958 to 1966.

HE'S A SAINT

Second-year forward Travis St. Denis enters tonight's contest on a team-best four-game point streak (one goal, three assists) following his highlight-reel goal on Sunday. St. Denis lined up for an offensive-zone faceoff and in one fluid motion, slapped the puck off the ice and past the glove of Syracuse goaltender Eddie Pasquale. St. Denis is second on the Sound Tigers in scoring with 24 points (11 goals, 13 assists) in 47 games this season after placing outside of the team's top 10 a year ago. The Trail, B.C. native is also tied for third on the club in goals.

QUICK HITS

Casey Bailey logged his 100th professional point with a power-play goal last Saturday... Bridgeport has allowed seven power-play goals in its last six games, but the club's penalty kill is fifth in the AHL (85.5%)... After tonight's game, six of the Sound Tigers' next nine will take place on the road.
