Sound Tigers Receive Three From Islanders
The New York Islanders announced Monday forwards Josh Ho-Sang (pictured) and Connor Jones, along with defenseman Adam Pelech, have been loaned to the team's American Hockey League affiliate, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.
Ho-Sang, 21, recorded 10 points (four goals, six assists) and a plus-1 rating in 21 games with the Islanders this season, including his NHL debut on Mar. 2 against Dallas. In addition, Ho-Sang tallied 36 points (10 goals, 26 assists) in 48 games with Bridgeport. Overall, Ho-Sang ranked second among AHL rookies in assists and tied for sixth in points at the time of his recall in late February. The 6’0, 172-pound winger notched 11 points (four goals, seven assists) in his last six games in the AHL. He made his professional debut with Bridgeport on Oct. 15, 2016.
Prior to turning pro, Ho-Sang logged 292 points (82 goals, 210 assists) in 256 games with the Windsor Spitfires and Niagara IceDogs of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) from 2012-16. The Thornhill, Ontario native registered 82 points (19 goals, 63 assists) in 66 games last season, leading Niagara and ranking 15th in the OHL’s scoring race. He also finished sixth in assists.
Ho-Sang was selected by the Islanders in the first round (#28 overall) of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.
Pelech, 22, recorded 10 points (three goals, seven assists) and six penalty minutes in 44 games with the Islanders this season. He also notched four points (one goal, three assists), 10 penalty minutes and a plus-1 rating in 11 games with the Sound Tigers.
A native of Toronto, Pelech played 27 games with Bridgeport last season, recording seven points (two goals, five assists) and six penalty minutes. He also made nine appearances with the Islanders including his NHL debut on Nov. 3, 2015 at Anaheim.
Overall, Pelech has notched 18 points (three goals, 19 assists) and 64 penalty minutes in 103 games with the Sound Tigers. The 6’2, 210-pound blue-liner was initially selected in the third round (65th overall) by the Islanders in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.
Jones, 26, played 56 games with the Sound Tigers this season, recording 18 points (five goals, 13 assists) and a plus-8 rating. The third-year pro also made his NHL debut on Apr. 2 at Buffalo and posted a plus-1 rating and two penalty minutes in four games with the Islanders. He notched 13 points (six goals, seven assists) in 51 games with Bridgeport last year. In addition, he appeared in three Calder Cup Playoff games with the Sound Tigers in 2015-16.
A native of Trail, BC, Jones split his first professional season between the Oklahoma City Barons (AHL) and Bakersfield Condors (ECHL) in 2014-15. The 5’9, 180-pound forward registered 10 points (four goals, six assists) in 41 regular-season games and three goals in 10 playoff contests with Oklahoma City.
Prior to turning pro, Jones played four seasons at Quinnipiac University alongside his twin brother and fellow Sound Tigers forward, Kellen Jones. C. Jones logged 129 points (49 goals, 80 assists) and 151 penalty minutes in 153 games with the Bobcats.
