The Bridgeport Sound Tigers (6-6-0-0), proud AHL affiliate of the New York Islanders, came out firing on Wednesday morning and wound up with a season-high 44 shots, but suffered a 4-2 loss to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms (9-3-0-2). The loss snapped Bridgeport's three-game win streak in front of 8,008 fans at Webster Bank Arena.

Sebastian Aho stayed red hot with his sixth goal of the season and fifth in the last four games, while Steve Bernier also scored a power-play tally in the opening frame. Between the pipes, Kristers Gudlevskis (3-3-0) made 23 saves.

The Sound Tigers outshot the Phantoms 19-8 in the opening 20 minutes and controlled much of the play throughout the first frame. The club also scored twice, led by Aho's even-strength goal at 7:41. Tanner Fritz and Ryan Bourque teamed up with a sequence of passes on the left wing, which opened up Aho at the top of the right circle. Fritz slid the puck in that direction where Aho hammered a one-timer past Alex Lyon's glove to make it 1-0.

Bernier made it 2-0 at the 15:09 mark with the Sound Tigers' eighth power-play goal of the season. With Nicolas Aube-Kubel in the box for high-sticking, Josh Ho-Sang hit Lyon with a couple of chances at the doorstep before Bernier cleaned up the ensuing scramble from the left post. It was his seventh tally of the season, tied for the team lead. In addition, Aho recorded the secondary assist for a multi-point performance.

The Phantoms bounced back with a three-goal middle frame and each of the last four tallies to secure their come-from-behind win. Phil Varone cut Lehigh Valley's deficit to one just 64 seconds into the second when he knocked home a rebound created by T.J. Brennan's wrist shot. It was also a power-play goal, with Mitch Vande Sompel in the box for slashing.

Fifty-one seconds later, the AHL's leading scorer Danick Martel extended his goal streak to six straight games when he ripped home his 14th in as many games this season. Martel skated to the right circle and slapped a shot between the post and Gudlevskis' glove to make it 2-2.

Oskar Lindblom collected the eventual game-winner at 13:45 of the second period with his third goal of the season. During a delayed penalty, Brennan dug the puck free from the wall and found Martel, who centered a pass for Lindblom at the doorstep. Lindblom proceeded to pull the trigger on a one-timer that beat Gudlevskis blocker side.

Tyrell Goulbourne capped the scoring at 7:19 of the third period when he benefited from an excellent centering pass by Varone. The seventh-year forward skated into Bridgeport's zone on the left wing and slowed as he drew a pair of Sound Tigers in his direction. Varone then backhanded a pass to the slot where a wide-open Goulbourne guided it past Gudelevskis to make it 4-2.

Bridgeport and Lehigh Valley both finished the game 1-for-5 on the power play, while the Sound Tigers outshot the Phantoms 44-27. Lyon (6-2-1) made a season-high 42 saves in the win.
