The Bridgeport Sound Tigers, proud AHL affiliate of the New York Islanders, face off against the Hartford Wolf Pack at 1 p.m. today in their only exhibition contest prior to the 2018-19 regular season.

This afternoon's game, which provides an opportunity for young talent to display their skills in front of coaches and management, will be played at the Koeppel Community Sports Center on the campus of Trinity College in Hartford. It is open to the public with donations being accepted at the door in lieu of an admission charge, benefitting the Ryan Gordon/Hartford Wolf Pack Community Scholars Fund. Suggested donation is $5 per person.

With a training camp roster consisting of 37 players on Saturday, the Sound Tigers will begin their final evaluations in crafting their 2018 opening night roster.

“We've had a good, hard week of practice already, but there's still work to be done,” head coach Brent Thompson said. “We had an opportunity to see some of our skill and battle-level during a team scrimmage on Thursday, but now is the time for some of these guys to really step up. With only one preseason game, this is a huge opportunity for some guys to show us they want to stay.”

“Game situations are different than practice situations and this will be a great chance to evaluate what we've got in this group,” Thompson added. “Jobs are still out there.”

Of the 37 players on the Sound Tigers training camp roster, 23 have previously dressed for the team, including former first-round draft picks Steve Bernier (2003), Michael Dal Colle (2014) and Josh Ho-Sang (2014). Kieffer Bellows, the Islanders first-round pick in 2016 (19th overall), is also on the roster and will likely make his pro debut with Bridgeport next month.

In addition, four players are under contract with the Sound Tigers' ECHL affiliate, the Worcester Railers. Those include: Woody Hudson, Tommy Panico, Nick Sorkin and Dylan Willick.
