The New York Islanders announced Thursday the club has recalled forwards Michael Dal Colle and Stephen Gionta from its American Hockey League affiliate, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.

Dal Colle, 22, leads the Sound Tigers with seven goals and is third on the team with 14 points this season. He also recorded five multi-point performances in 13 games with Bridgeport during his third professional campaign. Last season, Dal Colle collected 24 points (seven goals, 17 assists) in 60 AHL games and earned his first NHL recall last January, playing four games with the Islanders, including his NHL debut in the club's 7-2 win over the New York Rangers on Jan. 13.

A native of Woodbridge, Ont., Dal Colle ranked fifth on the Sound Tigers in scoring as a rookie in 2016-17, producing 41 points (15 goals, 26 assists) in 75 games. He made his pro debut on Apr. 15, 2016 against the Portland Pirates and scored his first pro goal in just his sixth game on Oct. 21, 2016 against the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.

Prior to turning pro, Dal Colle played four seasons in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) with the Oshawa Generals and Kingston Frontenacs from 2012-16. He earned 316 points (131 goals, 185 assists) and a plus-76 rating in 246 career games, and helped Oshawa win the 2015 Memorial Cup Championship while playing with Islanders prospect Mitch Vande Sompel. The 6'3, 198-pound forward was also named to the 2015 CHL Memorial Cup All-Star Team in 2014-15 and was selected as an OHL All-Star three times.

Dal Colle was selected by the Islanders in the first round (#5 overall) of the 2014 NHL Draft.

Gionta, 35, had one assist in two games with the Sound Tigers this season after he played 30 games for the club in 2017-18. The Rochester, N.Y. native scored five points (two goals, three assists) with Bridgeport last year.

Since making his NHL debut in 2010, Gionta has posted 56 points (16 goals, 40 assists) in 297 regular season games, with the New Jersey Devils and Islanders. Gionta added seven points (three goals, four assists) in 24 Stanley Cup Playoff games during the Devils post-season appearance in 2011-12, where they reached the Stanley Cup Final.

Prior to his NHL career, Gionta spent five seasons in the AHL with the Lowell Devils and Albany River Rats, collecting 146 points (63 goals, 83 assists) in 374 games. While in Albany, Gionta set a club record with 371 games played, ranked fourth all-time in goals and third in assists and points.

Gionta played four seasons at Boston College, where he scored 90 points (33 goals, 57 assists) in 151 games. While at Boston College, Gionta helped the Eagles advance to two NCAA Frozen Four Tournaments, including an appearance in the 2006 National Championship game. He helped the Eagles win three straight regular-season Hockey East Championships (2003, 2004, 2005), adding the playoff conference championship during his junior season (2005).
