The Bridgeport Sound Tigers, top affiliate of the New York Islanders, have agreed to terms, pending a physical, with forward Trevor Gillies on a one way American Hockey League contract for the 2009-10 season.

Gillies, a 6-foot-3, 235 pound left wing, has played in the AHL for parts of the last ten seasons. He appeared in 81 games for the River Rats the last two years, piling up 237 penalty minutes. Before coming to Albany, he spent two years with the Portland Pirates, where he compiled three goals and six assists and totaled 320 penalty minutes in 101 games. During his career, Gillies has been a part of seven AHL teams, including Lowell, Worcester, Providence, Springfield, Hartford, Portland and Albany.

The Sound Tigers open their season Saturday night against the Lowell Devils at 7:00 pm at the Arena at Harbor Yard. Season ticket packages and individual game tickets are on sale now. For more information please call 203-334-GOAL.
