BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (February 29, 2012) – The Bridgeport Sound Tigers announced today that the club has agreed to terms on a one-way, American Hockey League contract with defenseman Russ Sinkewich.

Sinkewich, 26, joins the Sound Tigers for the remainder of the 2011-12 season after splitting time this season between the Alaska Aces of the ECHL and the Abbotsford Heat of the AHL. The 6’3, 202-pound defenseman recorded six points (two goals, four assists) in 23 games with Alaska before earning a professional tryout contract (PTO) with Abbotsford where he totaled 24 penalty minutes in 21 games.

The Westlake, OH native shows one assist and 28 penalty minutes in 33 AHL games between Abbotsford, Lake Erie, and Milwaukee in addition to 30 points (six goals, 24 assists) in 151 career ECHL contests. Prior to the start of his professional career, Sinkewich spent four years at Bowling Green State University, posting five assists in 95 games.
