SOUND TIGERS ANNOUNCE PLAYER TRANSACTIONS
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (March 12, 2012) - The Bridgeport Sound Tigers announced the following transactions today; The New York Islanders have returned forward Micheal Haley and goaltender Anders Nilsson on loan to the Sound Tigers. In separate transactions, the Sound Tigers have released forward Rylan Galiardi and goaltender Riley Gill from their professional tryout contracts (PTOs).
Haley,
25, appeared in two games during his most recent recall to the
Islanders this past weekend and recorded five penalty minutes. In nine
games with the Islanders this season the Guelph, ON native has posted
33 penalty minutes. Haley returns to the Sound Tigers where he shows 22
points (14 goals, eight assists) in 44 games and leads the club with
101 penalty minutes.
Nilsson,
21, returns to the Sound Tigers after two impressive performances in
his most recent NHL stint. The Lulea, Swe. native recorded his first
NHL win with 24-save shutout in a 1-0 victory over New Jersey on March
4. Nilsson followed that by stopping 33 of 35 shots in a 2-1 loss to
the Devils on March 11. Nilsson returns to the Sound Tigers where he's
posted a 15-6-2 record with a 2.32 GAA and a .925 sv%.
Galiardi,
25, appeared in two games with the Sound Tigers this past weekend and
did not record a point. The Calgary, AB native returns to the Florida
Everblades of the ECHL where he has amassed 42 points (16 goals, 26
assists) in 53 games.
Gill,
26, did not appear in a game during his most recent stint with the
Sound Tigers, serving as Kevin Poulin's backup in the Sound Tigers last
five games. Gill heads back to the Kalamazoo Wings of the ECHL where he
shows a 20-11-4 record.
