BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (Sept. 7, 2012) – The Bridgeport Sound Tigers announced today that forward Max MacKay has agreed to terms on a one-year, American Hockey League contract for the 2012-13 season.
MacKay, 21, earns his first professional contract after leading the Walpole Express of the Atlantic Junior Hockey League to their third consecutive President’s Cup Trophy in the 2011-12 season. The Cranston, RI native led the Express in all offensive categories, recording 62 points (25 goals, 37 assists) in 29 games and adding a team-high 91 penalty minutes. MacKay was also a camp invite at this year's Islanders Prospect Camp.
The 6’1, 194-pound forward posted 83 points (33 goals, 50 assists) in 43 games and was third overall in AtJHL scoring during the 2010-11 campaign with the Express. Prior to his time in the AtJHL, MacKay played three seasons with the Bridgewater Bandits between the Eastern Junior Hockey League and Empire Junior Hockey League, totaling 107 points (47 goals, 60 assists) in 106 games.
