BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (Mar. 20, 2013) – The Bridgeport Sound Tigers have announced they have signed defenseman Mike Keenan to an amateur tryout contract (ATO).
Keenan, 24, joins the Sound Tigers after completing his collegiate career at Dartmouth College. The 6’0, 190-pound defenseman recorded career highs this season in goals (5), assists (11), points (16) and penalty minutes (58), and was named First Team All-Ivy League.
The Weymouth, MA native served as the Big Green’s captain during the 2011-12 and 2012-13 campaigns, and is just the sixth player in 107 years of Dartmouth hockey to wear the “C” for two seasons.
Keenan appeared in all 34 games with Dartmouth this season and played in every game in his final three seasons. Over his four-year career at Dartmouth, Keenan amassed 37 points (eight goals, 28 assists) in 108 games.
Prior to attending Dartmouth College, Keenan spent two seasons with the Sioux City Musketeers of the United States Hockey League, totaling 43 points (seven goals, 36 assists) in 107 games.
The Sound Tigers return to action this Friday in Providence against the Bruins, before returning to Webster Bank Arena for contests on Saturday against the Springfield Falcons and Sunday against the Albany Devils.
