The New York Islanders announced today that forward Mike Halmo and defenseman Matt Donovan have been recalled from the Bridgeport Sound Tigers (AHL).

Halmo, 22, led all active Sound Tigers in most offensive categories with 37 points (17 goals, 20 assists) in 54 games this season. He also led the team with a plus-13 rating. He appeared in two games with the Islanders in his first stint with the Islanders before being returned to the Sound Tigers on March 2. The Islanders signed Halmo as a free agent on March 10, 2012, after the undrafted winger completed a four-year junior career with the Owen Sound Attack of the Ontario Hockey League.

Donovan, 23, averaged nearly a point-per-game in his 27 games with the Sound Tigers this season, with 21 points (seven goals, 14 assists). He also appeared in 36 games for the Islanders this season, in which he collected seven points (one goal, six assists). He ranks ninth all-time in Sound Tigers history with 114 points, which is also the most for any Sound Tigers defensemen. Donovan was drafted by the Islanders in the fourth round (96th overall) in 2008 and attended the University of Denver for two years.
