ISLANDERS LOAN CONACHER TO SOUND TIGERS
The New York Islanders announced today that forward Cory Conacher has been loaned to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League.
Conacher, 24, had one goal and two assists in 15 games with the Islanders this season. Conacher signed a one-year deal with New York as a free agent back on July 1.
The Burlington, Ont., native was the 2011-12 AHL Most Valuable Player, registering 39 goals and 41 assists for 80 points with the Norfolk Admirals. Norfolk went on to win the Calder Cup that year, with Conacher notching 15 points in 18 postseason games.
This will be Conacher’s fifth AHL team in his career, after playing most of the past three years in the National Hockey League. Conacher played for the Tampa Bay Lightning, Ottawa Senators and Buffalo Sabres prior to suiting up for the Islanders, amassing 141 games along the way.
