TIGERS VS. WOLF PACK
Tonight's contest marks the third of 10 meetings between the Sound Tigers and Wolf Pack this season, and the second of five matchups at Webster Bank Arena. Bridgeport has already won each of its first two games against Hartford this year, including a 5-1 victory in their last tilt on Oct. 27. Michael Dal Colle, Connor Jones and Josh Ho-Sang all recorded multiple points that night, while Christopher Gibson made 23 saves on 24 shots.
VIEW FROM HARTFORD
Keith McCambridge's club snapped a three-game slide in its last outing on Sunday, earning a 4-2 victory against the Springfield Thunderbirds at home. Scott Kosmachuk, Dan DeSalvo, Steven Fogarty and Vinni Lettieri all scored, while Alexandar Georgiev made 21 saves in net. In addition, three of Hartford's four goals were scored on the power play. Lettieri had one of those and is now tied for second in the AHL among rookies in power-play tallies (four). Lettieri and teammate Adam Tambellini are tied for the team lead with five goals total this season.
Sebastian Aho became the first Sound Tigers defenseman to record a hat trick when he scored three times in Providence last Sunday. He added another tally on Wednesday and now leads all AHL blue-liners with six goals this season. In addition, Aho is tied for the league lead in game-winning goals (three), is tied for eighth among rookie scorers with nine points (six goals, three assists) and ranks second on the Sound Tigers in scoring. Aho, who rolls into tonight's game with five points in his last two games, was selected by the New York Islanders in the fifth round (139th overall) of the 2017 NHL Draft.
KILLING IT ON THE KILL
The Sound Tigers penalty kill has been sensational over the last three weeks and enters tonight's game 28 for its last 30 (93.3%), dating back to Oct. 27. In addition, the team's penalty kill is 22 for 23 (95.7%) over its last four outings. It currently ranks 11th in the AHL.
Fifth-year goaltender Christopher Gibson is expected to play in tonight's game - his second start against the Wolf Pack this season. Last weekend, Gibson was phenomenal, turning back 51 of 53 shots he faced against Providence and Springfield, which moved him to 13th in the AHL with a 2.36 goals-against-average. Even more impressive, Gibson recorded the second longest shutout streak in Sound Tigers history. He went 158 minutes and 40 seconds without allowing a goal from the first period on Oct. 27 against Hartford to the third frame against Springfield on Saturday. Kevin Poulin holds the team record at 221:54 (2011-12).
Six of the Sound Tigers last 12 goals have been scored by defensemen... Bridgeport has outshot its opponents in 10 of 12 games this season... Tanner Fritz has assists in three straight games, while he and Josh Ho-Sang are each riding a three-game point streak overall.
