The Bridgeport Sound Tigers (16-13-4-2), proud AHL affiliate of the New York Islanders, battle the Providence Bruins (22-10-3-0) in a home-and-home series this weekend, beginning with a 7:05 p.m. puck drop at Dunkin' Donuts Center on Friday. The Sound Tigers have gone past 60 minutes in three of their last four outings, including a 2-1 shootout loss to the Hartford Wolf Pack in their last game on Wednesday. Travis St. Denis scored his ninth goal of the season and Bridgeport notched a season-high 47 shots, but came up short for the fourth straight game (0-1-2-1). Michael Dal Colle also collected an assist for his ninth point in his last 12 AHL games, and that helped the second-year winger earn his first NHL recall with the Islanders on Thursday. The Sound Tigers will play without Dal Colle in the lineup Friday for just the third time over the last two seasons.

The Sound Tigers will celebrate our nations heroes, both past and present, with Military Appreciation Night presented by the Better Business Bureau Serving Connecticut on Saturday evening. All veterans and active military personnel get in for free by visiting the Webster Bank Arena Click It or Ticket Box Office and the first 2,000 fans will receive a limited edition Sound Tigers camouflage hat when doors open at 6 p.m. In addition, the team will wear special camouflage jerseys that will be up for bid during the game at a silent auction on the concourse. Great seats are available here! Game time is 7 p.m.

Friday's game marks the fourth of 12 matchups between the Sound Tigers and Bruins this season, and the third of six contests in Rhode Island. The road team has won each of the first three games, including a pair of victories for the Sound Tigers in Providence on Nov. 3 and 5. Sebastian Aho leads Bridgeport against Providence with four points (all goals) in three appearances, but the Sound Tigers won't have his services this weekend as he was also recalled by the Islanders on Thursday.

Jay Leach's team leads the Atlantic Division with 47 points in 35 games, but the Bruins are just 5-4-1-0 in their last 10 games and are coming off of a 4-3 loss against the Syracuse Crunch last Sunday. Peter Cehlarik, Matt Beleskey and Anders Bjork all scored that afternoon and Tommy Cross notched two points with a pair of helpers. Austin Czarnik was held off the board, but continues to pace the Bruins in scoring (nine goals, 23 assists) and is also tied for 13th in the AHL. Between the pipes, Jordan Binnington has won eight straight decisions and his 1.55 goals-against-average is currently best in the League. The fifth-year goaltender is 10-1-1 this season and his save percentage is second in the AHL (.940).

The Sound Tigers have gone past regulation in three of their last four games and are tied for 12th in the AHL with 10 overtime contests this season. Bridgeport is 3-4 when games end in overtime and 1-2 when a shootout is needed. The Sound Tigers are 0-4 when going beyond regulation since their last overtime victory on Dec. 16 against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.

Forward Travis St. Denis has five points (three goals, two assists) in his last five games and has climbed to eighth on the team in scoring with 17 points (nine goals, eight assists). Both of his goals last week came on the man advantage and St. Denis now ranks fourth on the Sound Tigers in power-play goals.

Anthony Beauvillier was also recalled by the Islanders on Thursday along with Aho and Dal Colle... Christopher Gibson is 4-1-2 over his last seven appearances... Bridgeport has scored the first goal in 23 games this year, tied for second in the AHL (12-6-4-1)… The Sound Tigers continue to lead the Eastern Conference in shots per game (32.80) and are second in shots against (26.29)… Ross Johnston leads the AHL with 113 penalty minutes... Bridgeport is 14-9-3-1 against divisional opponents this season... The Sound Tigers are 7-5-4-2 in one-goal games.
