SOUND TIGERS SIGN MAGGIO TO PTO
Maggio, 21, joins
the Sound Tigers after beginning the 2012-13 season with the ECHL's
Fort Wayne Komets. The Windsor, ON native posted 15 points (four goals,
11 assists) in 36 games and led the Komets with 123 penalty minutes. Maggio was also recently named to represent Fort Wayne at the 2013 ECHL All-Star Game.
The 6'3, 202-pound
blue-liner joined Fort Wayne for its run to the Central Hockey League
title last season and posted five points (two goals, three assists) in
15 postseason contests. Prior to turning pro, Maggio split five seasons
in the Ontario Hockey League between Sudbury, Guelph and Oshawa.
Originally
selected by the New York Rangers in the sixth round (170th overall) of
the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Maggio recorded 100 points (25 goals, 75
assists) and 491 penalty minutes in five seasons in the OHL.
The Sound Tigers
face the Bruins in Providence on Friday night before returning to
Webster Bank Arena on Saturday night to host the Portland Pirates at
