Islanders Recall Dal Colle, Beauvillier and Aho
The New York Islanders announced Thursday forwards Michael Dal Colle (pictured) and Anthony Beauvillier have been emergency recalled from the team's American Hockey League affiliate, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. In addition, defenseman Sebastian Aho has been recalled from Bridgeport.
Dal Colle, 21, is tied for fourth on the Sound Tigers in scoring this season with 18 points (five goals, 13 assists) in 34 games. He is also fourth on the team in helpers during his second full season in the AHL. This marks Dal Colle's first NHL recall.
A native of Woodbridge, Ont., Dal Colle ranked fifth on the Sound Tigers in scoring last season, collecting 41 points (15 goals, 26 assists) in 75 games as a rookie. He made his professional debut on April 15, 2016 against the Portland Pirates and scored his first pro goal in just his sixth game on Oct. 21, 2016 against the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.
Prior to turning pro, Dal Colle played four seasons in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) with the Oshawa Generals and Kingston Frontenacs from 2012-16. He earned 316 points (131 goals, 185 assists) and a plus-76 rating in 246 career games, and helped Oshawa win the 2015 Memorial Cup Championship while playing with Islanders prospect Mitch Vande Sompel. The 6'3, 198-pound forward was also named to the 2015 CHL Memorial Cup All-Star Team in 2014-15 and was selected as an OHL All-Star three times.
Dal Colle was selected by the Islanders in the first round (#5 overall) of the 2014 NHL Draft.
Aho, 21, made his NHL debut with the Islanders on Dec. 31 against the Colorado Avalanche and scored his first goal in Sunday's come-from-behind victory against the New Jersey Devils. Aho has two points (one goal, one assist) in three NHL games.
In addition, Aho has 20 points (nine goals, 11 assists) and four power-play goals in 30 games with the Sound Tigers this season and has been one of the top defensemen in the AHL. He ranks second among all AHL blue-liners in goals, leads defensemen in game-winners, and is tied for 13th in points.
A native of Umeå, Sweden, Aho agreed to a three-year entry-level deal with the Islanders on July 5, 2017 after he was selected by the club in the fifth round (#139 overall) of the 2017 NHL Draft. He spent parts of the last four seasons with Skellefteå AIK in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL) and posted career highs in goals (10), assists (20), points (30) and games played (50) with the team last season. He added two assists in seven playoff games, and helped Skellefteå capture 2017 SHL silver medal honors.
In 152 career SHL games, Aho registered 15 goals, 45 assists and 60 points during the regular season and also skated in 49 career playoff games, helping Skellefteå win the SHL championship in 2013-14.
The 5'10, 170-pound defenseman also skated with Team Sweden in the World Junior Championships from 2012-15.
Beauvillier, 20, scored two goals for the Sound Tigers in Friday's overtime setback to the Rochester Americans after making his AHL debut Jan. 3 against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. He has two goals, 16 shots and a plus-two rating in three AHL games.
Beauvillier also collected eight points (five goals, three assists) in 32 games with the Islanders this season during his second professional campaign. The Sorel, Quebec native notched 24 points (nine goals, 15 assists) and a plus-one rating in 66 games with the club during the 2016-17 season, including an assist in his NHL debut on Oct. 13, 2016 against the New York Rangers.
Prior to turning pro, Beauvillier spent three seasons with the Shawinigan Cataractes of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) from 2013-16. He earned 206 points (91 goals, 115 assists) and a plus-10 rating in 178 career games, and served as team captain during his final season in 2015-16. In addition, the 5'11, 170-pound forward was named a QMJHL All-Star on two occasions and scored the most goals (15) of any player during the 2015-16 playoffs.
Beauvillier was selected by the Islanders in the first round (28th overall) of the 2015 NHL Draft.
