INS AND OUTS - JAMIE FRASER
Jan 14, 2008
Name something about yourself that people would be surprised to find out?
I like to read various rock stars biographies because it takes my mind off of hockey. I have read biographies by artists from a few of my favorite bands like Anthony Kiedis (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Tommy Lee (Motley Crue), Stompin' Tom Connors and Johnny Cash.
If you were not playing hockey, what career path would you most likely have gone into?
Without a doubt, a beach volleyball player. Over the summer, I play the sport everyday at Canatara Beach in Sarnia, Ontario where I'm from.
If you won the lottery, what would you do with the money?
The first thing would be pay off my parents home and donating some of it to charity. Then I'd make a few "simple" purchases like buying a Hummer for the winter and then a Ferrari for the summer. I would also have to split it with my roommates, Reg (Steve Regier) and Wally (Ben Walter) because we've both all been playing Power-Ball together so the winnings would have to go three ways.
Tell me about your hidden talent.
I am a "sick" dancer. I watch different moves on TV and am able to pick it up pretty quickly. If I had to choose a certain type of music, it would have to be hi-hop and my "go-to" move is called the J-5, from the Jackson Five.
Do you have any superstitions or pre-game rituals?
No, because if something goes wrong during a game it messes your head. You start to think, if too much and it can easily knock you off your game.
What is your favorite restaurant in Connecticut?
SBC in Milford
What hockey player did you idolize as a kid?
Bobby Orr, because he changed the way defensemen play the game. I try to model my play after him. He was so smooth skating the puck out of his own zone and could change the game with one rush.
What actor would play you in a movie and what type of movie would it be?
Matthew McConaughey and the movie would be a romantic comedy. I loved the movies "How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days" and "Failure to Launch."
What is the worst hockey injury you've ever had?
I dislocated my thumb.
Tell me about the hockey roots in your family.
My father played in the OHL for Oshawa and was drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks. He also spent some time in the WHA and IHL during his career. My uncle is Kerry Fraser, one of the best referees in the NHL. His son, my cousin, is Ryan Fraser who refs in the AHL.
