INS AND OUTS - DREW FATA

Mar 3, 2008

Question: Name something that people would be surprised to learn about you.

Answer: I am the youngest of three siblings. My brother Rico is in the middle and my sister Amanda is the oldest.

Q: If you were not playing hockey what occupation would you choose?

A: I'd be a hand model. I don't like to work so all I'd have to do is put my hand down for pictures.

Drew FataQ: Do you have any hidden talents?

A: I can move my ears at will.

Q: What is your biggest pet peeve?

A: I cannot stand putting on wet hockey gear. I also hate to unpack it.

Q: What do you do in the off-season to take your mind off of hockey?

A: I like to build things in the off-season to keep me busy. Two summers ago, I built a doom-buggy, which is like a miniature go-cart but it is driven through the woods and muddy courses. Last summer, I built a wood-burning sauna. I also like to go to baseball games, golf and fish during the summer because it's relaxing.

Q: Who has been the biggest influence in your life?

A: My brother, Rico.

Q: What is your favorite sport other than hockey?

A: Baseball. My favorite team is the Toronto Blue Jays. If I had to choose a team between the Red Sox and Yankees, it would be the Red Sox.

Fata Head-ShotQ: What hockey player did you idolize as a kid growing up?

A: Paul Coffey, because he was a smooth skating defenseman and made things look so easy on the ice.

Q: What is the best part of being a hockey player?

A: I get free coffee at the rink whenever I want.

Q: What has been the greatest hockey moment of your life so far in your career?

A: Playing for the Islanders in Game 5 of the first round Stanley Cup Playoffs series against the Buffalo Sabres last season.

Q: Do you have any bad habits?

A: I have lots but one is that I play video games way too much. We have "Guitar Hero" in our house and we play it all the time.

Q: What is the worst hockey injury you've suffered in you career?

A: I took a slap-shot to the face when I was playing in the ECHL with the Wheeling Nailers. I had to have plastic surgery on my face to reconstruct my upper lip.

Q: What actor would star in a movie as you and what type of movie would it be?

A:
I like Joaquin Phoenix and it would definitely be a Western.
